CWC is excited to introduce you to our new Water Programs Interns, Blanca Escobedo and Vanessa Martinez! Both Blanca and Vanessa are students at University of California, Davis, studying Environmental Policy Analysis and Planning and have recently joined CWC at our Sacramento office. They are passionate about environmental justice and will be providing policy, communications, and fund development support for CWC's drinking water campaigns. CWC is grateful to have Blanca and Vanessa on board, and we are excited to help them become effective drinking water advocates! Here are a few words from Blanca and Vanessa:
Hello everyone!
My name is Blanca Escobedo and I am one of the new Water Programs Interns for Community Water Center. I am originally from Lindsay, California and am now a student at UC Davis. I am very excited about my internship with CWC due to all of the personal connections I feel with the drought and its impact on the Central Valley. Even though I haven’t been with CWC for long, I am looking forward to broadening my knowledge on water advocacy and rights as well as helping in any way that I can.
Hi!
My name is Vanessa Martinez and I am a new intern at the Community Water Center in Sacramento. I am currently a second year undergraduate at the University of California, Davis studying Environmental Policy and Economics. I am also involved with an environmental leadership program in the UC Davis Arboretum where I work with other students to plan sustainable educational events for students and the greater community. I was fortunate enough to come across this internship opportunity on the UC Davis joblink website, and thought to myself, “This is exactly the kind of work I am interested in!” Working to help empower underprivileged communities in combating environmental issues is something that I have been passionate about for awhile. It combines two of my interests: environmental policy and community outreach. I find it shocking that in California a vast amount of people are still struggling for access to clean and affordable water. I am so grateful for this new opportunity to work with Asha and the Sacramento staff on policy tracking, communications, and whatever other tasks I can help with!
